Open Data Day is a gathering of citizens in cities around the world to write applications, liberate data, create visualizations and publish analyses using open public data to show support for and encourage the adoption open data policies by the world’s local, regional and national governments.
Open Data Day is a yearly event that takes place in numerous cities around the world that brings together organizations and citizens based on shared enthusiasm for Open Data since 2010. Last year, 262 cities celebrated Open Data Day. During the event, participants is able to grab an opportunity to share their experiences with open data and map, brainstorm for future projects, explore new data sets and create environment for partnership and collaboration among government, civil society, private sector and citizens.
Who Can Participate?
In Open Data Day everyone can participate – governments, citizens, techies, hackers, students, developers, designers, statisticians, journalists, civil society organizations, and anyone with an interest in open data, open map, transparency, accountability and civic participation. Participation is free of cost, but participants should come with their passion to learn, share and collaborate.
