Human Wildlife Conflict Nepal – HWC Nepal

HWC – Nepal is a cloud-based human-wildlife conflict data collection and visualization, wildlife activities reporting and SMS Alert system. The system consists of a Mobile  Application (HWC – Nepal) – which is used to collect the data related to conflicts caused by the wildlife and a Web Portal (Dashboard) – where the data is collected, analyzed, visualized and reported. Also an additional key feature of this application is to alert on wildlife activities through application notification and SMS alert to the registered authorities and communities.

Vision

The application has the vision to collect the data related to human-wildlife conflict in all the districts of Nepal. First and foremost, data collection helps to know the trend of conflicts occurring. The effective analysis from data collection shows the most affected areas, the reasons for damage, data on time and area with occurrence of frequent attacks, etc. Data can be visualized in graphs so that we can predict the hotspot region. Thus, it becomes clear about the progress made and the steps that should be proceeded to make the conservation sustainable.

Similarly, the timely circulation of information about wildlife activities to the community and authorities is very crucial for human and crop damage. Timely information could save human loss or help take needful action to protect human and crop loss/damage.
